Abstract

The research was conducted in MEM where records staff and other few staff were included in the study all are community based MEM. The sample size used in collection of data was 7 records staff in each registry (open and confidential) and a total of 10 other staff and 3 from top management of MEM. Also 5 other members of public out of the case study in order to get different ideas. Generally a total number of 32 people were given questionnaires to fill in the required information. In the research findings questionnaires and interview were administered to collect the data to prove the stated objective of the research goals. Moreover the research finding was used to provide new knowledge to what has been stated by other researchers also to come up with alternative ways to overcome the problem and advice other areas for further research.

Aims and Objectives
  • To assess and explore on the impacts of Records Management Programmes in Public Service offices.

Specific Objective;

  • The exploration of the records management programmes.
  • To examine the availability and conditions of records storage facilities.
  • To determine how the records staff, users of records and top management are familiarly concerning the records management programmes basing on their training knowledge per records keeping system of the organization with high confidentiality.
  • To investigate on how the control tools of records management programme such as File Daily, File Index, File Transit Sheet, Bring-up system etc are implemented and used.
  • To make suggestion and recommendation for improvement of using records management programmes those implemented and recommended to be use in the Public Service offices.
Research Questions

A:  Records staff

  1. Do they have enough or any records management programme knowledge and skills?
  2. Do they have awareness of the Sound Registry and standardization Procedures on uses of the control tools?
  3. Do they know the effects of Records Management Programmes to be use in day-to-day activities in the registry?
  4. Do they think it’s important to apply those programmes in the registry?

B:  other staff

  1. Mention the advantages of having records management programmes.
  2. Have they attends any records management course?
  3. How often do they use records in their daily activities?
