ABSTRACT

This work is on rechargeable standing fan. The project involves using mains power supply to recharge and power standing fan and at the same time powers a torch light and charge cell phones. Rechargeable standing fan, charges with mains power supply, then the charged battery is used to run the fan whenever there is power outage. A dc motor serve as the fan which operates with 6v supply, which is an electrical machine that converts direct current electrical energy into mechanical energy.

1.0                                                        INTRODUCTION

The electric fan was one of the most important electric inventions of all time. The fan is a building block of other more advanced technologies. Fans are necessary in computers, lasers, large LED lights, petrol and electric automobiles, the space station and countless other things. The fan as used in this  work allows humans to build giant or underground buildings. It would be hard to imagine a world without the electric fan!

The electric fan has blades similar to a water or steam turbine. A DC drives a rotating shaft.  Sizes of fans have gotten much smaller and lighter over the years.  As engineers improved the electric motor and blade design they figured out how to get more performance out of a design that uses less copper and steel.

Rechargeable DC fan can help maintain humidity levels, protect various rooms of your house from stagnant air, and even help you sleep better at night. And that’s just the beginning. The blades force air either in or out of the room you’re trying to cool or ventilate.

1.1                                             OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objective of the work is to design and construct rechargeable standing fan with an inbuilt cell phone charging system and torch light which is powered by rechargeable battery when there is power outage. In this work, a 6v rechargeable battery is used to power the whole system.

1.3                                         SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJCET

After knowing in detail what a rechargeable standing fan is and how different useful it is to make appliances work at residential and industrial levels students should also know the advantages.

  • Rechargeable standing fan helps people who use limited amount of electricity.
  • A rechargeable standing fan is more environmentally friendly.

  • A cordless appliance offers much more mobility compared to conventional fan solar standing fans are the best way and they are better than the normal electric ones. Also their maintenance does not cost much money.

1.3                                           LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT

  • Initially you need to shell out a lot of money for buying a battery, fan (DC motor).
  • It will work effectively and produce direct current only when the battery is fully charge.

1.4                                    APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT

1.5                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

The project involves using mains power supply to recharge power standing fan. Rechargeable standing fan, charges with mains power supply, then the charged battery is used to run the fan via an inverter when there is power outage. This power can then be used for fan.

The specific type of DC motor used in this fans is a brushless DC motor, (also called synchronous DC motor). A DC motor uses an internal array of magnets of opposing polarity.

This creates a magnetic field that creates the torque required to rotate the motor’s rotor. This process requires less electrical energy, translating into a 70% or greater reduction in power consumption
over standard AC motors.

1.6                                               BENEFITS OF DC MOTORS

This energy efficient process keeps the motor cool, effectively improving the fan’s life span. Noise is virtually eliminated.

The various stages involved in the development of this project have been properly put into five chapters to enhance comprehensive and concise reading. In this project thesis, the project is organized sequentially as follows:

Chapter one of this works is on the introduction to rechargeable dc fan. In this chapter, the background, significance, objective limitation and problem of rechargeable dc fan were discussed.

Chapter two is on literature review of rechargeable dc fan. In this chapter, all the literature pertaining to this work was reviewed.

Chapter three is on design methodology. In this chapter all the method involved during the design and construction were discussed.

Chapter four is on testing analysis. All testing that result accurate functionality was analyzed.

Chapter five is on conclusion, recommendation and references.
