Abstract

This study explores the effectiveness of demonstrative teaching methods on students’ understanding of titration concepts in chemistry. A total of 150 questionnaires were distributed among students, out of which 120 were completed and returned with valid responses. The remaining 30 questionnaires were rejected due to incomplete or invalid information, leading to a final sample size of 120 for analysis. The study found that 75% of students either strongly agreed or agreed that demonstrative teaching methods significantly enhanced their understanding of titration concepts compared to traditional lecture-based methods. This indicates a strong preference for practical demonstrations over theoretical lectures in grasping complex chemistry concepts. Additionally, 74% of respondents reported that learning through demonstrations made the subject matter more engaging. They also indicated that demonstrative methods improved their ability to retain titration concepts better than traditional lectures. This finding highlights the effectiveness of practical demonstrations in making abstract concepts more accessible and memorable. Regarding practical skills and confidence, 77% of students noted that demonstrative methods increased their confidence and improved their practical skills in performing titration experiments. This suggests that hands-on demonstrations not only aid in theoretical understanding but also enhance students’ ability to apply their knowledge practically. In conclusion, the results underscore the value of incorporating demonstrative teaching methods in chemistry education. These methods not only facilitate better comprehension and retention of complex concepts but also boost students’ practical skills and confidence in laboratory settings.
