The Statistical Analysis Of The Consumption Of Cigarette And Alcoholic Drinks In Tertiary Institutions (PDF/DOC)
This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption among youth in tertiary institutions. It was observed that despite the warning from the federal Government through the Ministry of Health that smokers are prone to premature death, youths still engage in these behaviors.
The research employed stratified random sampling for data collection, and the analysis utilized the chi-square (χ2) test of independence.
Specifically, the findings indicated that students at Federal Polytechnic Nekede showed a preference for Rothmans and Benson & Hedges cigarettes over other brands. In terms of alcohol consumption, they favored palm wine and stout among the four specified brands investigated in the study.
