The main aim of this study is to examine the impact of social media usage on student academic achievement in biology in calabar south L.G.A. Other aims of this study are:

The following research questions were raised;

- How has the use of social media impact the academic achievement in biology of the students in selected secondary schools in calabar south L.G.A?
- Is there gender difference in the student’s usage of social media network?
- In what way do younger and older students impact the use of social media?
The following hypotheses are generated by the researcher and was tested in this study:
Ho1: Students’ addictiveness to social network has no significant impact on their academic achievement in biology.
Ho2: Student’s exposure to social media network has no significant impact on students’ academic achievement in biology.
Ho3: Use of social media do no significantly impact on the academic achievement in biology of the students in selected secondary schools in calabar south L.G.A.
Ho4: There is no significant difference between male and female student usage of social media network.
Ho5: Age does not have significant impact on the use of social media.
