Design And Construction Of A Remote Controlled Light Switch

The design and construction of a remote-controlled light switch involve integrating electronic components and wireless communication technology to enable users to remotely control the lighting system. This project typically encompasses the development of a circuit board with a microcontroller, such as an Arduino or Raspberry Pi, connected to a relay module. The microcontroller receives signals from a remote control device, which could utilize infrared (IR), radio frequency (RF), or Bluetooth communication protocols, translating these signals into commands to toggle the relay, thereby switching the light on or off. Additionally, the system may incorporate power management features and safety mechanisms to ensure efficient operation and prevent electrical hazards. The construction phase involves assembling the electronic components onto a printed circuit board (PCB), wiring the relay to the light source, and enclosing the entire system in a suitable housing for protection and aesthetics. Through this project, users can enjoy the convenience and flexibility of remotely controlling their lighting setup, enhancing both comfort and energy efficiency in residential or commercial environments.

ABSTRACT

IR LED emits infrared light, and used in TV remotes. This Infrared is received by the receiver TSOP 1738. TSOP 1738 receives the modulated Infrared waves and changes its output.

In this remote controlled switch circuit, a TV remote is used to ON/OFF the AC light by pressing any button of remote, and using the TSOP1738 at receiver end. Receiver circuit is connected to AC appliance via Relay, so that we can control the light remotely. We have used IC 4017 to convert it into a push ON, push OFF switch.
