Effect Of Emotional Intelligence On Employee Performance
This study investigates the impact of emotional intelligence (EI) on employee performance within First Bank PLC, Keffi. The research explores the relationships between EI, demographic variables, and various dimensions of job performance. A sample of 62 employees from different departments participated in the study. Demographic analysis revealed a diverse workforce composition in terms of gender, age, educational level, and departmental affiliation. Results indicated significant positive correlations between EI and job performance indicators, including productivity, job satisfaction, and leadership effectiveness. Gender, age, and educational level were found to moderate the relationship between EI and performance outcomes. Furthermore, discrepancies were identified between employees’ perceived EI levels and established norms, highlighting the need for targeted interventions to enhance emotional competencies. Recommendations for First Bank PLC, Keffi, include implementing EI training programs and integrating EI assessments into talent management processes. The study contributes to the understanding of EI in organizational contexts and underscores the importance of considering demographic factors in EI assessments and interventions.
