The Design And Implementation Of A Computerized Contact Management System (PDF/DOC)
Contact management system deals with the collection and storage of contact information of people, addresses, phone numbers and other contact details. Computerized system poses high speed of processing precision, storage, its versatility and high retrieval system makes possible the completion of tasks that could never been achieved with manual system because of the difficulty of completing them on time for the results to be useful.
This paper discusses the design and implementation of a Contact Management system database application with SQL SERVER. It also discusses the issues of selecting appropriate database model, interface design, system deployment and maintenance. A projection of record growth in relation to student population and system requirement was carried out in the study. Finally it discusses the applicability of the system in academic institutions. The Programming language used in developing this application is Visual Basic.net 2012. It runs in Windows 98 to Latest windows 8. Also Crystal report must be installed to view the report of contact.
Introduction
This chapter gives an overview about the aim, objectives, background and operation environment of the system.
1.1 Background of the Study
Contact Managment system is applications which are generally small or medium in size. Itis used for personal and business purposes to store contact details for reference purpose. With this computerized system there will be no loss of record or member record whichgenerally happens when a non computerized system is used. The system is made up of tab page such as welcome page, address book and report center. The address book is made up of the menus and the list view to view the contact details. The report center is made up of the address book, phone book, contact detail, and the contact list report.
1.2 Statement of the Problems
Loss of contact was a big problem to people who have gotten the contact details but unfortunately the contact details got loss.
1.3 Objective of the Study
The project aims and objectives that will be achieved after completion of this project are discussed in this subchapter. The aims and objectives are to resolve contact issue.
1.6 Significance of the Study
The significance of this study was to help and give a benefit to the student, business marketers, school management, company, and other places that need this system. The system would improve the monitoring capacities of those who maintain the system.
1.7 Limitation of the Study
Unavailability of academic materials.
Transport problem
Lack of financial support
Lack of Time
Unavailability of programming software such as Visual Basic.Net.
1.9 Scope of the Study
This research work will concentrate on the implementation of the system to see how it works and how it can be used.
1.8 Assumption of the Study
During the process of data collection, information relating to contact management system was obtained from the internet and Microsoft access contact application. Hence, it is assumed that all the data collected are correct and contains no false information.
1.8 Definition of Terms
1. Contact:
Communication with someone, especially by speaking or writing to them regularly.
2. Contact Information:
Contact information includes all fields which are useful for connecting persons, organizations, governments, companies, or other parties responsible for a given entity.
3. Management:
It is the co-ordination of all the resources of an Organization through the process of planning, Organization, directing and controlling
4. System:
Physical component of a computer that is used to perform certain task.
5. Data:
Numbers, Text or image which is in the form suitable for Storage in or processing by a computer, or incomplete information.
6. Information:
A meaning full material derived from computer data by organizing it and interpreting it in a specified way.
7. Input:
Data entered into a computer for storage or processing.
8. Output:
Information produced from a computer after processing.
9. Information System:
A set of interrelated components that collect (or retrieve), process, store and distribute information to support decision making and control in an organization.
10. Computer:
Computer is an electronic device that accepts data as Input, processes data and gives out information as output to the user.
11. Sofware:
Software is set of related programs that are designed by the manufacturer to control the hardware and to enable the computer perform a given task.
12. Hardware:
Hardware is a physical part of a computer that can be touched, seen, feel which are been control by the software to perform a given task.

Technology is the branch of knowledge that deals with the creation and use technical and their interrelation with life, society and the environment, drawing upon such as industrial art, engineering, applied science and pure science.
16. Algorithm:
A set of logic rules determined during the design phase of a data matching application. The ‘blueprint’ used to turn logic rules into computer instructions that detail what step to perform in what order.
17. Application:
The final combination of software and hardware which performs the data matching.
18. Contact Details:
The information required to contact someone, such as an address or telephone number
19. A Contact Manager:
A Contact Manager is a software program that enables users to easily store and search for contact information, such as names, addresses and telephone numbers. They are contact-centric databases that provide a fully integrated approach to tracking of all information and communication activities linked to contacts. Simple ones for personal use are included in most smartphones.
Summary, Conclusion and Recommendations
5.1 Summary
In summary, this Academic Work project has done a great deal of giving a broad knowledge of what contact management system is all about and how it can be operated.
5.2 Conclusion
From this Academic Work, I have been able to show the application of database management system(Contact Management system)and how it can be used, it has achieve the full aim of letting the public know what computer system is all about.
5.3 Recommendation
I hereby recommend this Academic work to be used by staff and management of ……. and indeed any other Institution with similar structure and organizational framework for the following reasons:
The academic work has been able to solve the problem related to easy access of contact information.
It has helped the user on how to use the contact management system easily.
