Assessment Of Effective Method Of Teaching Islamic Studies In Senior Secondary Schools Students

Abstract
This study was carried out to assess the effective method of teaching Islamic Studies in secondary Schools. Specifically, the study aims to determine whether Question-answer Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools, determine whether Story-telling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools, determine whether Discussion Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools and determine whether Drilling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 77 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that performance appraisal serves as a control to management planning. The study also revealed that Question-answer Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools, Story-telling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools, Discussion Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools and Drilling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools. The study thereby recommend that government, the school owners and the administrators should make provision for adequate manpower and facilities needed in the subject. Also, the Students’ interest should be aroused through various enlightenment programmes, reinforcement, prizes and awards for the brilliant and well-behaved students of ISS. Finally, the number of allocated periods for the subjects should be increased in order to cover the Islamic Studies Syllabus as prepared by Nigerian Educational, Research and Development Council (NERDC). The era of one or two periods per week should be abolished.

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
5.1 SUMMARY
In this study, our focus was to examinethe effective method of teaching Islamic Studies in secondary Schools using Ansar- U-Deen secondary schools Okota Lagos State as a case study. The study specifically was aimed at highlighting determine whether Question-answer Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools, determine whether Story-telling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools, etermine whether Discussion Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools and etermine whether Drilling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools. A total of 77 responses were validated from the enrolled participants where all respondent are drawn from the effective method of teaching Islamic Studies in secondary Schools.
5.2 CONCLUSION
Based on the finding of this study, the following conclusions were made:
- Question-answer Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools.
- Story-telling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools.
iii. Discussion Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools.
- Drilling Technique facilitates the effective teaching of Islamic Studies in secondary Schools.
5.3 RECOMMENDATION
Based on the responses obtained, the researcher proffers the following recommendations:
i- Government, the school owners and the administrators should make provision for adequate manpower and facilities needed in the subject.
ii- The Students’ interest should be aroused through various enlightenment programmes, reinforcement, prizes and awards for the brilliant and well-behaved
students of ISS.
iii- The number of allocated periods for the subjects should be increased in order to cover the Islamic Studies Syllabus as prepared by Nigerian Educational, Research and Development Council (NERDC). The era of one or two periods per week should be abolished.
iv- In both public and private schools, the subject should be handled ONLY by qualified, certified, certificated, dedicated, friendly , competent and morallyinclined ISS teachers who will be worthy role models for the students in all areas.
