Aims and Objectives

The main aim of this study is to examine the impact of social media usage on student academic achievement in biology in calabar south L.G.A. Other aims of this study are:

  1. To examine the level of student addictiveness to social media and the impact on their academic achievement in biology.
  2. To determine the social media network that the students are more exposed to and the impact on their academic achievement in biology.
  3. To ascertain how the use of social media has impact the academic achievement in biology of the students in selected secondary schools in calabar south L.G.A.
  4. To ascertain the difference in students" usage of social media network by gender.
  5. To ascertain how age has impact on students" usage of social media network.

Hypothesis of the Study

The following hypotheses are generated by the researcher and was tested in this study:

Ho1: Students" addictiveness to social network has no significant impact on their academic achievement in biology.

Ho2: Student"s exposure to social media network has no significant impact on students" academic achievement in biology.

Ho3: Use of social media do no significantly impact on the academic achievement in biology of the students in selected secondary schools in calabar south L.G.A.

Ho4: There is no significant difference between male and female student usage of social media network.

Ho5: Age does not have significant impact on the use of social media.
