Design And Implementation Of A Computerized Drug Verification And Management System

This project was centered on design and implementation of computerized drug verification and management system. The current process of verifying and managing drugs by NAFDAC is being operated manually and due to this procedure numerous problems are been encountered. This design was taken to computerize the manual process in order to check these problems. The problems were identified after series of interviews and examination of documents after which analysis was made and a computerized procedure recommended. This project will also suggest how to successfully implement the computerized procedure and to overcome the obstacle that would hinder the successful implementation of the system. The system was designed using PHP programming language. This language was chosen because of its easy syntax and features for developing web based applications.

Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation

5.1 Summary

The aim of this research is to create a drug verification and report filing management system which will make drug verification by drugs enforcement agencies more flexible and reliable. The existing types of a drugs verification management were discussed and it was narrowed down to just a drug verification and reporting system which is the main thrust of this project. The history of drug enforcement agency where highlighted. Process of drug verification were outlined. The system design was made suitable to the system requirements. Embedded in the system design is activity diagram which shows the activities and actions in the system. The implementation of the software was successful.

5.1 Conclusion

Drug verification and report management System will improve the all drug enforcement agency in obtaining a correct sampling and report as well as up to date information on drugs while at the field. Hence it is advised that all drug enforcement agencies in Nigeria should adopt this drug verification and report management system which is reliable, flexible and result oriented.

The resulting software would be of benefit to individuals who which to verify his / her drugs by typing the drug verification code on the system. The software has been able to meet its objectives and will make drug verification and report management more successful.

5.2 Recommendation

The software developed for the implementation of this research can be used by any drug enforcement agencies other than NAFDAC.

The following recommendations are proposed:

Admin should create passwords with long characters so as to make password hacking difficult.

System users should ensure safekeeping of password since it provides access to the system.

System client should login from time to time to see update on drugs report.
