The Evaluation Of Parental Influence On Youth Involvement In Ritualism (PDF/DOC)
This study was carried out to examine parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism using residents of Ikorodu in Lagos State. Specifically, the study aimed to determine the extent of parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism, examine the level parents education influences on youth involvement in ritualism, determine the role of parents religious beliefs on youth involvement in ritualism and determine the extent parents socioeconomic status influences youth involvement in ritualism. The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 259 responses were validated from the survey. From the responses obtained and analyzed, the findings revealed that parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism. The study also revealed that parents level of education influence youth involvement in ritualism. The study further revealed that parents religious beliefs play a role on youth involvement in ritualism. Lastly, the study revealed that parents socioeconomic status influence youth involvement in ritualism. The study thereby recommend that government should establish more industries and create enabling environment to encourage investment by the private sector as it is hoped that such public/private school partnership will create more employment opportunities that will empower people economically. And parents, guidance, counselors, the school and the church should intensify efforts at the propagation and re-orientation of societal values on young ones.
The primary objective of this study is to evaluate parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism. Specifically but not limited to, other objectives of this study are:
- To determine the extent of parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism,
- To examine the level parents education influences on youth involvement in ritualism,
- To determine the role of parents religious beliefs on youth involvement in ritualism and
- To determine the extent parents socioeconomic status influences youth involvement in ritualism.
The following research questions which are in line with the objectives of this study will be answered in this study:
- To what extent is parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism?
- To what level do parents level of education influence youth involvement in ritualism
- Does parents religious beliefs play a role on youth involvement in ritualism?
- To what extent does parents socioeconomic status influence youth involvement in ritualism?
SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
5.1 SUMMARY
In this study, our focus was on parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism using residents of Ikorodu in Lagos State as a case study. The study specifically was aimed at highlighting the extent of parental influence on youth involvement in ritualism, examine the level parents education influences on youth involvement in ritualism, determine the role of parents religious beliefs on youth involvement in ritualism and determine the extent parents socioeconomic status influences youth involvement in ritualism. A total of 259 responses were validated from the enrolled participants where all respondent are drawn from residents of Ikorodu in Lagos State.
5.2 CONCLUSION
Based on the finding of this study, the following conclusions were made:
i. Parental influence contributes to youth involvement in ritualism.
ii. Parents level of education influence youth involvement in ritualism.
iii. Parents religious beliefs play a role on youth involvement in ritualism.
iv. Parents socioeconomic status influence youth involvement in ritualism.
5.3 RECOMMENDATION
Based on the responses obtained, the researcher proffers the following recommendations:
1. The government should establish more industries and create enabling environment to encourage investment by the private sector as it is hoped that such public/private school partnership will create more employment opportunities that will empower people economically.
2. The government should encourage family planning in order to reduce number of children per parents to at least four. This will help parents to take proper care of their children.
3. Parents, guidance, counselors, the school and the church should intensify efforts at the propagation and re-orientation of societal values on young ones
