This research project investigated the influence of electronic banking on the operational performance of banking institutions in Nigeria, focusing particularly on Eco Bank Plc. The study reviewed existing literature on electronic banking and its history in Nigeria, identified various electronic banking systems, and assessed associated risks.
Three hypotheses were formulated and tested using a well-structured questionnaire administered to Eco Bank Plc staff, with a sample size of forty (40) selected through simple random sampling.
Data collected were presented in tables using percentages. Hypotheses were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The findings led to the rejection of all null hypotheses in favor of the alternative hypotheses. The conclusions drawn from the analysis indicate that electronic banking significantly impacts the performance of Eco Bank Plc. Specifically, the adoption of electronic banking enhances the bank’s profitability, and there exists a significant relationship between operational efficiency and electronic banking in the banking sector.
