The Public Perception And Role Of Media In Creating Awareness Among Youths On Reproductive Health Issues Project Material
Abstract
This study focused on the public perception and role of media in creating awareness among youths on reproductive health issues among students in university of Lagos. The study is was specifically set to examine if reproductive health related information is been shared on media, determine the extent to which reproductive health related information is shared on media in Nigeria, determine whether media plays an important role in the dissemination of reproductive health related information, determine the extent to which media users paid attention to the reproductive health related information provided online and find out the extent social media increased public awareness of the reproductive health issues.
The study adopted the survey research design and randomly enrolled participants in the study. A total of 141 responses were validated from the enrolled participants where all respondent are media users and students of university of Lagos. The result of the findings reveals that v information is been shared on media. Furthermore, the study revealed that the extent to which reproductive health related information is shared on media in Nigeria is high. Therefore, it is recommended that other social media platforms should encourage dissemination of reproductive health message in their platforms in order to increase the media options of Nigerians to patronise rather than just almost absolute dependence primarily on Whatsapp and Facebook.
