Abstract

The failures of corporate business organizations in Nigeria have evolved from a sporadic occurrence to a pervasive trend in our national landscape. This alarming trend now poses a significant threat to the national economy. It has instilled apprehension among potential investors, both governmental and private, thereby stifling meaningful investment. Esteemed business scholars and practitioners attribute this troubling phenomenon to the neglect of quality management practices by these corporate entities. They argue that current corporate executives either lack comprehension of strategic management principles or are deficient in the necessary skills to effectively implement quality management practices.

This study undertakes a comprehensive review of current literature on quality management processes. It analyzes how these processes can potentially enhance organizational productivity. Primary data for this research were gathered through questionnaires, interviews, and personal observations, supplemented by secondary sources such as newspapers, journals, and reports from the Nigerian Bottling Company Plc.

Two hypotheses were formulated and tested using statistical methods: one hypothesis was analyzed using chi-square distribution, while the other employed correlation analysis. These tests aimed to demonstrate that internal and external environmental factors significantly influence the adoption and impact of quality management practices on corporate performance. The findings underscore the potential of quality management practices to revitalize and sustain corporate entities through enhanced productivity in practical business scenarios.

To mitigate these challenges, it is imperative that senior management recruits skilled personnel capable of applying scientific techniques to strategic planning processes. This strategic approach is crucial for ensuring the effective implementation of quality management practices across corporate organizations.
