Abstract
This study was carried out to examine the role of school administrator in managing insecurity challenges in Nigeria school system using selected secondary Emuoha Local Government Area, Rivers State as a case study. The study was carried out to determine the prevalence of insecurity challenges in Nigeria school system, determine the forms of insecurity challenges in Nigeria school system, identify the role of school administrator in managing insecurity challenges in Nigeria school system, and determine the effectiveness of school administrator in managing insecurity challenges in Nigeria school system. The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. The population size comprise of administrative staff of some selected secondary schools in Emuoha Local Government Area, Rivers State. In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 41 respondents and 35 were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables. While the hypotheses were tested using Chi-square statistical tool. The result of the findings reveals that there is a high prevalence of insecurity challenges in Nigeria school system. The study also revealed that the forms of insecurity challenges in Nigeria school system includes; bullying, cultism, rape, vandalization, and kidnapping. Therefore, it is recommended that rules and regulations should apply to all staff and students, any staff or students found guilty of violation of the rules and regulations should be punished to serve as lesson to others. To mention but a few.
