The Design And Construction Of An Automatic Security Light Control Using Remote (PDF/DOC)
ABSTRACT
Automatic security lighting control system using remote is any electrical security lighting that is fixed outside house for the illumination of such environment or a light is a raised source of light on the edge of a road or walkway, which is turned ON or OFF using remote.
Automatic security lighting control system using remote will turn on/off security light in the way of LEDs or bulb coupled with relay using remote. This system involves operating the security lamp from a distance using remote to switch ON/OFF a security light and electrical application in a household also.

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 INTRODUCTION
The idea behind the design of this system is to make available the require illumination in our roads for nighttime events, security, and beautification. This goes a long way in helping to curb the problem frequently encountered as a result of darkness during nighttime such as thieves, arm robbers operations or wide animals approaching our homes during night hours.
A security lighting is any electrical lighting that is fixed outside house for the illumination of such environment or a security light is a raised source of light on the edge of a road or walkway, which is turned on/off wirelessly.
Many of the people have a phobia of darkness, so to assist them in such situation; we have explained a simple circuit. It will turn on security light from a distance.
The system that has been designed in this work uses flip-flip ic and radio-frequency transmitter/receiver pair as major components. A flip-flip ic decode a given sequence of keys that is entered on a keypad; the flip-flip ic a transmitter module to send out this code as signal at a given radio frequency. Upon reception of this RF signal by the receiver module, activates a driver circuitry to operate the security light automatically.
1.1 AIMS OF THE PROJECT
The present study aims at designing an electronic automated security lightening system that can be remotely controlled from a distance. The electronic code of the system has an in-built password that is four characters in length. This code is entered from a handheld unit.
1.2 OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
- This project is aimed at reducing the movement of mankind in power switching operation.
- To automatically control the ON and OFF of the output light when from a distance using remote
iii. To ensure that discrete components are used in place of bulky power components to control a heavy load current.
- To ensure no energy wastage and hence reduction of PHCN bill.
- To develop an inexpensive system
1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
Some advantages of the system over those described in [5], [6] and [7] include:
(i). It does not need close contact to control the light; the control can be done from inside the room at a distance.
(ii). It operates as a stand-alone system and does not require a network provider for reception of signals.
(iii) The use of a keypad to generate the code necessary for the ON and OFF of the lightening enhances the security of the system since it provide intruder from entering premises
(iv). The features of the system that are controlled by the firmware resident in the memory of the microcontrollers can be easily improved for future upgrade.
(V). prevention of accidents and increase in safety. Studies have shown that darkness results in a large number of crashes and fatalities, especially those involving pedestrians; pedestrian fatalities are 3 to 6.75 times more likely in the dark than in daylight. Street lighting has been found to reduce pedestrian crashes by approximately 50%.
(vi). Furthermore, lighted intersections and highway interchanges tend to have fewer crashes than unlighted intersections and interchanges.
(vii). Towns, cities, and villages use the unique locations provided by lampposts to hang decorative or commemorative banners.
1.4 PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT
The main purpose of having remote control automatic security lighting at roads is for lighting up road – for beautification, safety and security.
- By using this Automatic remote control lightening system, we can reduce energy consumption because the manually and contact operated security
1.5 APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT
- Can be used for simple remote controlling applications, small data transfer, etc.
- IR Transmitter and Receiver pair as a module can be used in security applications, proximity sensors, distance measurement applications, etc.
1.6 PROBLEM OF THE PROJECT
- IR Transmitter and Receiver require line of sight communication i.e. they need to be facing each other.
- The range of IR communication is less and is reliable for short range and small amounts of data.
1.7 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
This project work covers the following: tuned radio frequency transmitter and receiver, flip-flops, Darlington pair transistors and delay circuits. It also lays great emphasis on passive and active components used to implement the system. It x-rays the mode of calculation of the basic circuit parameters and other areas of application of the system.
1.8 PROJECT REPORT ORGANIZATION
This project is presented in six chapters to appropriately illustrate the steps involved in its implementation. Chapter one introduce the design overview, objective and significance of the project. Chapter two is basically the literature review and some theories relevant to the design. Chapter three x-rays the methodology and analysis. Chapter four is on the system design analysis while chapter five elaborates on the implementation, testing and results. Finally chapter six summarizes the entire thesis and recommendations.
