The Design and Implementation of Payroll Management System (PDF/DOC)
Introduction
Payroll system is the heart of any Human Resource System of an organization. The solution has to take care of the calculation of salary as per rules of the company, income tax calculation and various deductions to be done from the salary including statutory deductions like Income tax and provident fund deductions. It has to generate pay-slip, cheque summary and MIS report
1.1 Background Of The Study
It is understood that we are tired of managing thousand of odd papers, pay slips, payroll reports, and salary details and so on. Imagine that we have a payroll processing system which will generate our pay slips and payroll reports within seconds. We can help others automated payroll system by developing a customized payroll application that suits their specific requirements.
1.2 Statement Of The Problem
Over the years, manual method of payroll has been used. This method has its disadvantage. It has been proven to be very ineffective and inefficient. Some of the disadvantages are
The job of preparing salary payment annually is tedious and causes delay.
As a result of the problem above, manual methods have a lot of discrepancies and raise doubts in the voucher.
This method encourages fraud figures are easily manipulated and changed. The manual method requires people who are competent in mathematics related computation to do a reliable job. As a result people of such are very scarce.
1.3 Objective Of The Study
The main aim of developing the Payroll Management System is to provide an easy way not only to automate all functionalities involved, also managing leaves and Payroll for the employees of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede. To provide full functional reports to the management of the school with the details about usage of leave facilities.
1.4 Significance Of The Study
The major importance of the study is to improve the efficiency of payroll management and to quickly find out information of an employee details to provide easy and faster access information, also to provide user friendly environment for staff workers during payroll activity. Department can use it sitting at different locations simultaneously.
1.5 Scope Of The Study
This application works in multiple pc’s installed on multiple computers but sharing same database by which users of different department can use it sitting at different locations simultaneously.
But in future we can make the application where the database will be hosted in order to manage all the departments which will be located in different places and by keeping domain of application online.
1.6 Limitation Of The Study
In the process of carrying out this research work, some factors tried to hinder the free flow of work. The researcher met with many problems and setbacks during this research work. Prominent among such problems was financial handicap. In view of the economic realities the researcher found it difficult to raise enough money in order to do a thorough work.

Summary, Conclusion And Recommendation
5.1 Summary
This project work has described the design and implementation of Payroll Management System that has applications in the Payroll administration of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede. In theory, a context-based anomaly on Payroll System constructed as described in this research could offer a number of benefits to Federal Polytechnic Nekede whose Payroll Management methods are still not effective as it should be. Unfortunately, at this time, the system is far too underdeveloped to adequately judge, several unexplored research topics remaining, while other areas require further elaboration.
The biggest question, however, is determining what roles this system would play in the Payroll Management process. The most basic role would be discovering the online Payroll Management information processes within the Federal Polytechnic Nekede network.
5.2 Conclusion
Payroll Management schemes can benefit both the Federal Polytechnic Nekede staff and partners of the polytechnic. They can improve customer and staff performance and suitability for promotion while at the same time helping to use technology more effectively. In addition, they can improve communications and the quality of working life. The following will help to ensure that Payroll Management is both effective and successful:
Payroll process needs the commitment and support of all levels of management.
Administrative Staff and representatives should be consulted before new Payroll Management methods are introduced.
Payroll Management software should not be seen in isolation but should be closely linked with policies and practices in other areas, such as human resource planning, equal opportunities and training.
Those responsible for manipulating the Payroll Management schemes should receive adequate training to enable them to make objective assessments and to give them confidence in carrying out effective Payroll activities.
Paperwork should be kept to a minimum and Payroll Management forms should be simply and clearly designed.
Payroll Management Systems should be reviewed periodically to ensure they meet changing needs.
The introduction of a formal Payroll system does not remove managers’ responsibilities for reviewing performance on a day-to-day basis.
5.3 Recommendation
There is need for a better understanding of Payroll Management methods so as to evaluate the significance of the impacts generated by Payroll Management challenges.
The proposed Payroll Management System could be used to identify Payroll Management respondents and provide information about the closest resources of Payroll Management response for staff workers and payment personnel.
More funds should be provided by all stakeholders in the development and use of Payroll Management System models in the country. The adoption of the model developed in this research work and procurement of other Payroll Management models would serve as a basis for carrying out more research in the area of Payroll Management processes.
Federal Polytechnic Nekede should take adequate care during the implementation and maintenance of the system.
This should be given proper consideration due to its importance for effective and efficient deployment and operation of the system by adopting parallel change-over procedure and applying the technique of preventive after the implementation, corrective maintenance should be done to fix it up.
