Construction Of A CCTV Camera Battery Pack

The Construction Of A CCTV Camera Battery Pack (PDF/DOC)

Overview

Battery pack includes a main body having a circuit board and parallel batteries arranged therein. Battery pack is a set of any number of (preferably) identical batteries or individual battery cells. Battery pack parallel arrangement is designed to have higher level of ampere per hour. The first control unit controls an input voltage of an external power supply and an output voltage of a battery power of the battery, which powers the device. Battery pack comprises of a special battery in a special case with a special circuit to control power flow. The aim of this work is to build a battery power pack that stores electrical energy (deposit it in the bank) and then later use it to power a CCTV camera.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                                        INTRODUCTION

1.1                                           BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

A battery pack is a set of any number of (preferably) identical batteries or individual battery cells.[1] They may be configured in a series, parallel or a mixture of both to deliver the desired voltage, capacity, or power density.

Components of battery packs include the individual batteries or cells, and the interconnects which provide electrical conductivity between them. Rechargeable battery packs often contain a temperature sensor, which the battery charger uses to detect the end of charging. Interconnects are also found in batteries as they are the part which connects each cell, though batteries are most often only arranged in series strings.

When a pack contains groups of cells in parallel there are differing wiring configurations which take into consideration the electrical balance of the circuit. Battery regulators are sometimes used to keep the voltage of each individual cell below its maximum value during charging so as to allow the weaker batteries to become fully charged, bringing the whole pack back into balance. Active balancing can also be performed by battery balancer devices which can shuttle energy from strong cells to weaker ones in real time for better balance. A well-balanced pack lasts longer and delivers better performance.

For a CCTV battery package, cells are selected and stacked with solder in between them. The cells are pressed together and a current pulse generates heat to solder them together and to weld all connections internal to the cell.

The aim of this work is to build a PORTABLE rechargeable battery pack for 12V CCTV cameras which supplies High 6800mAh battery capacity

1.2                                                  PROBLEM STATEMENT

CCTV surveillance systems are frequently the subject of debate. Some parties seek to promote their benefits such as their use in criminal investigations and providing a feeling of safety to the public. They have also been on the receiving end of bad press when some consider intrusiveness has outweighed the benefits [1][2].

The correct design and use of such systems is paramount to ensure a CCTV surveillance system meets the needs of the user, provides a tangible benefit and provides safety and security for the wider law-abiding public. For this reason, a cctv requires a steady power supply for the user to ensure adequate result. Power pack in cctv came to ensure a steady power supply to the cctv most expecially when power fails. It has the capacity of sustaining the cctv up to 36 hours.

1.3                                             OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objective of the project is to design a device that is used to charge and power cctv camera. It is PORTABLE rechargeable battery for 12V CCTV cameras and it supplies High 6800mAh battery capacity (up to 36 hours).

1.4                                         SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

Power pack serves as a power source for the CCTV camera. Power pack helps to ensure longer hours of the camera. CCTV battery pack can be swapped into or out of a device. This allows multiple packs to deliver extended runtimes, freeing up the device for continued use while charging the removed pack separately.

Another advantage is the flexibility of their design and implementation, allowing the use of cheaper high-production cells or batteries to be combined into a pack for nearly any application.

1.5                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

This work is on a CCTV camera battery pack. This device uses standard lithium rechargeable batteries, which can be bought almost anywhere, to power CCTV camera.

The circuit charger device charges the battery for a brief period of time. Then, they stop, check the voltage, and verify the temperature against an internal table before deciding to stop or continue the charging process. The charging regulation required by the battery is performed within the device getting charged, and this design takes advantage of that circuit.

  • LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT
  1. it can only be recharged with mains supply
  2. it supplies 12V CCTV output to the cameras
  3. it has 6800mAh battery capacity which can last upto 36 hrs

1.6                                              PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

The purpose of this work is to ensure steady and sustainable power supply to CCTV camera.

1.7                                          APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT

Apart from using this device for powering CCTV camera, this device can also be used to power other devices such as: music players, e-book readers, and other cameras.

1.8                                                        METHODOLOGY

To achieve the aim and objectives of this work, the following are the steps involved:

  1. Study of the previous work on the project so as to improve it efficiency.
  2. Draw a block diagram.
  • Test for continuity of components and devices,
  1. Design of the system was carried out.
  2. Studying of various component used in circuit.
  3. Finally, the whole device was cased and final test was carried out.

1.9                                        PROJECT WORK ORGANISATION

The various stages involved in the development of this project have been properly put into five chapters to enhance comprehensive and concise reading. In this project thesis, the project is organized sequentially as follows:

Chapter one of this work is on the introduction to the study. In this chapter, the background, significance, objective limitation and problem of the study were discussed.
