CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                                        INTRODUCTION

Coin based water dispenser system is fully automated system that enables the user to get water automatically without wasting any time by just inserting the silver coin in an automated machine. Normally in remote areas such as mountains or desert land forms, the supply of water is a very difficult task because lake of human life or electricity. Beside this, in shopping malls, supper stores, universities or community centers where when any one wants to just drink water or cola then he wastes so much time due to long row of customer. In these places, if any automated machine or automated water or cola dispenser system would be installed then everyone can save their precious time.

So many systems are available in market like this but that systems are so much costly as well as not so much reliable and efficient. Here we have been presenting a system that is called a coin based water dispenser system. This system has designed with the help of coin sensor, water pump, IR sensor, LCD display, single phase step down ac transformer, bridge rectifier, voltage regulator and arduino. This system also has coin detect facility means when a valid coin is inserted in this machine then it will work otherwise it will not work.

With the advancement of technology the ‘Coin Operated Water Dispenser’ provides comfort and it fits well for its users in the era of modernization .

Regulated power supply is designed to provide system with constant supply of 5 volts. The dispenser will dispense water only when the correct coin is inserted as well as with the placement of glass below the nozzle. The correctness of coin is detected by the coin sensor and the object detection is done by an IR sensor. If both the conditions are satisfied then a signal is given to the microcontroller and accordingly water pump gets activated and water will be dispensed.

1.1                                             OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objective of this project is to construct a machine that will automatically dispense water on the detection of the right coin (correct denomination). Coin sensor module is separately programed for 50k and 1 naira coin. Coin sensor is a double coin acceptor, so it is programmed for a two coin, that is, 1naira for one litre and 50kobo for half litre.

1.2                                              PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

The main purpose of this work is to provide a means of fetching water from the dispenser that requires lesser human effort.

1.3                           ADVANTAGES OF THE PROJECT

1)Pollution free: Use of Plastic Bottles for water will be restricted.

2)Save Water: waste of water will be less

3) low cost system: we can easily implement anywhere.

4) Reliable

5)Power supply: Required less power supply

6) User friendly

1.4                           APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT

  1. This coin based water dispenser system could be installed in shopping malls, super stores, universities, community centers, petrol pumps and CNG stations for supplying automatic water or cola to the people.
  2. By using system, any company can reduce the man power and save the money.
  3. This coin based water dispenser system is more compact, more efficient, more reliable and less costly as compared to other systems.

1.5                                               BENEFIT OF THE PROJECT

A water dispenser can give you and your employees instant access to water that is vitally needed to ensure that you stay hydrated throughout the day and therefore keep productivity levels high. The human body is composed of over 70% water and so it needs regular topping up to keep us feeling refreshed and to maintain optimum energy levels. With just the simple push of a button, your office can easily stay hydrated. A water dispenser provides convenience and speed to the office, offering chilled filtered water just like a normal tap would.

Install a water dispenser in your office today and increase your water intake, saving on both energy and time:

No plumbing – With a water dispenser, there is no need for plumbing, so you can simply have the water dispenser set up and be able to drink refreshing cool water instantly.
Practical
– A water dispenser is fully portable, which means that you can implement it in any location you desire (if there is access to a plug)
Easy to use –
A water dispenser is easy to use, all you need to do is to push the button which will release your drinking water.

Chilled water on tap – There is nothing better than drinking a glass of chilled water. With a water dispenser, you can keep refreshed knowing that you are drinking pure English water.

1.6                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

Here we put forward a fully automated coin based water dispenser system using microcontroller and sensor. The system is capable of fully automated water dispensing using motors and sensors. The system also senses if glass is placed at the counter to avoid water spoilage if there is no glass placed at the counter panel. The system uses IR sensors to detect presence of glass and then the sensors send a signal to the microcontroller. The micro controller now processes the information sent by the sensors to determine if glass is present. The system also has a coin detector that is used to sense particular coins and send information to microcontroller about valid coins. On detecting a valid coin the system now sends a signal to the controller who checks if glass is present and then it starts the motor to pour water in glass using motor as long the glass is present. If glass is removed during the process, system stops the water supply until glass is encountered. Thus we here put forward a smart water dispenser system with water saving feature.

1.7                            PROBLEM OF THE PROJECT

Regular sanitization and maintenance – water dispenser generally needs regular sanitation and maintenance. The user will make sure your water dispenser is kept regularly maintained as part of your rental package.

High cost: using this device can be of high cost because of the coin detector and microcontroller used.

1.8                       PROJECT WORK ORGANISATION

The various stages involved in the development of this project have been properly put into five chapters to enhance comprehensive and concise reading. In this project thesis, the project is organized sequentially as follows:

Chapter one of this works is on the introduction to this study. In this chapter, the background, advantage, objective, purpose and problem of this study were discussed.

Chapter two is on literature review of the study. In this chapter, all the literature pertaining to this work was reviewed.

Chapter three is on design methodology. In this chapter all the method involved during the design and construction were discussed.

Chapter four is on testing analysis. All testing that result accurate functionality was analyzed.

Chapter five is on conclusion, recommendation and references.
