The Design And Construction Of An Automatic Solar Powered Hand Washing Machine (PDF/DOC)
The inconsistent and often unsanitary hand washing and drying practices observed in many restaurants and food establishments have highlighted the need for an improved solution. This project addresses these issues by transforming the traditional mechanical hand washing setup into a sophisticated touchless system.
Our device features a housing with two main sections: an upper spherical portion and a lower box-shaped section. The upper portion houses a fluid injection system that dispenses water and liquid soap directly onto users’ hands. The lower portion contains a wash basin positioned within the box-shaped structure, designed with a circular opening to allow used water and soap to drain away.
Additionally, the machine is equipped with an electronic sensor that detects when hands are placed in the wash basin, and a control unit that manages the timing for the activation of the water and soap dispensing.
This project has successfully developed a functional, cost-effective, sensor-controlled hand washing system suitable for various environments. The primary goal is to create a device that automatically detects the presence of a person via a proximity sensor, subsequently allowing the automatic flow of water or soap to facilitate a hygienic hand washing experience.
