Design And Implementation Of A Wireless Audio Transmitter

The Design And Implementation Of A Wireless Audio Transmitter (PDF/DOC)

Overview

ABSTRACT

This work is on wireless audio transmitter is a device for transmitting domestic audio signals wirelessly from one location to another. It is most commonly used for sending the audio output of a source device, such as a satellite television decoder, to a television in another part of a property and provides an alternative to cable installations. The aim of this work is to design wireless transmitting device that allows you to wirelessly extend the audio signals from your VCR, satellite receiver, or camcorder using composite and audio cables

 CHAPTER ONE

1.0                                         BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT

The era of wire or cable connection for reception of audio media is almost obsolete. Now technology is making everything wireless and stress free. This device is another brilliant technology that can let you connect your  video footage from one point to another without wires, example connect different TVs in different locations(rooms) from your DVR(DSTV Decoder) without running wires, CCTV cameras to audio amplifier without running wires, DVD to TVs or speakers in different rooms without running cables.

Wireless audio Transmitter arrives with an inbuilt antenna as well as having a really Low Power Consumption is a new way to share signals from many devices. Share audio signals from VCR, DVD, Satellite receivers, set-top box or CCTV camera to any TV or monitor in different rooms wirelessly with this transmitter system.

This visual system has a huge transmission range and can even reach more than 500 meters (1500ft) in open spaces making it great when setting up around the home or the office. Simply connect using the AV cables provided then turn the transmitter on for instant signal transmission, so you can start listening the footage straight away. This wireless audio transmitter has adopted advanced microwave wireless transmission technology so that it can transmit high quality audio signals, therefore eliminating the need for cables.

Connect the transmitter to your amplifier or your computer downstairs and the set the receiver in another room and you can enjoy it there, rather than having to carry the DVD player or other equipment into the other room. Ideal for listening TV audio or radio in another room from the satellite box or for keeping an eye on your property while you lay in bed, this video system allows an alternative to be possible without the need for wire.

1.1                                             OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

The objective of this work is to design and implement a device for transmitting domestic audio signals wirelessly from one location to another over a frequency mode. The frequency at which it is transmitted has much more available bandwidth than that which is available at the analogue level.

1.2                                              PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT

A wireless audio sender allows you to transmit audio signals of cable, satellite, , radio, DVD player, VCR, projector, or computer, etc. from one room to another wirelessly. RF-Link 5.8GHz audio sender not only provides 300 ft (100 meters) wireless transmission (in open space).

1.3                                         SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT

Wireless signals are electromagnetic waves travelling through the air. These are formed when electric energy travels through a piece of metal – for example a wire or antenna and waves are formed around that piece of metal. These waves can travel some distance depending on the strength of that energy.

This device is important because it can transfer information – audio — without the use of wires, and that makes them very useful.

1.4                                                 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

Spread-spectrum techniques are methods by which a signal is deliberately spread in the frequency domain, resulting in a signal with a wider bandwidth. Within the video sender market, these techniques allow for a wireless signal to be transmitted with much less chance of interference from, and to, frequency mode.

It is not uncommon for several Wi-Fi networks to be within range of a typical home and as such, spread-spectrum based audio senders are often the best solution for transmitting video signals within this crowded wireless environment.

Some manufacturers use proprietary spread-spectrum techniques, enabling typical operational ranges of up to 80 metres in-building. By also employing externally mounted antennas, operational ranges in excess 2000 metres.

1.5                                          APPLICATION OF THE PROJECT

This device is used to connect home entertainment and AV devices in a home or a business. These transmitters are also used to connect security cameras to displays and recorders. For instance, a home security system can be set up that utilizes a video transmitter for cameras that monitor the front door, or a home theatre can be set up with wireless transmitters to allow audio signals to be beamed to different TVs in the home.

Wireless video transmitters are used to send a audio signal from any AV or HD audio source to a receiver in another location.. No matter which type of wireless audio transmitter one chooses, there are certain issues the buyer should be aware of when it comes to wireless audio transmitters used for security.

1.6                                           LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT

Radio Interference

Radio frequency interference, or RF interference, is one of the major problems that can plague wireless setups. This is because there are so many wireless devices in operation today. Many of these wireless devices, like cordless phones, function using the same radio frequencies as video transmitters. To determine if this is the problem, one should turn on the wireless receiver without turning on the wireless video transmitter. If any symmetrical picture is displayed it is likely that there is interference.

Obstructions

An obstruction refers to anything that is between the transmitter and is obstructing the signal from reaching the receiver successfully. Although wireless videos can transmit through walls, there is always some degradation of the signal. If obstructions like walls or thick trees are unavoidable, the solution is to get the transmitting and receiving antennas up as high as possible, as many of the obstructions that the signal encounters include furniture and other items sitting on the floors.

1.7                          PROJECT WORK ORGANISATION

The various stages involved in the development of this project have been properly put into five chapters to enhance comprehensive and concise reading. In this project thesis, the project is organized sequentially as follows:

Chapter one of this work is on the introduction to a wireless audio transmitter and receiver over frequency mode. In this chapter, the background, significance, objective limitation and problem of a wireless audio transmitter over frequency mode were discussed.

Chapter two is on literature review of a wireless audio transmitter over frequency mode. In this chapter, all the literature pertaining to this work was reviewed.

Chapter three is on design methodology. In this chapter all the method involved during the design and construction were discussed.

Chapter four is on testing analysis. All testing that result accurate functionality was analyzed.

Chapter five is on conclusion, recommendation and references.
